ESSENCE OF COLLABORATIONS

by Blog Posting |

By: LDR (@lisadelarosa)

What is collaboration and why is it necessary? Well, if you define collaboration using the Oxford dictionary, it means “the action of working with someone to produce or create something.” It may seem objective but in reality, there is more to it than what the dictionary defines.

For starters, collaboration isn’t merely about what benefits you could reap from others. If you dig deeper, it is also about building relationships where the involved parties share and exchange ideas and experiences. It is an environment where people learn from each other and creates a bond that will make the team work. It is a safe place for brainstorming, failing and making mistakes before birthing a perfect output that represents the vision of both parties.

Every details, outputs, and decisions should come into terms by the parties involved in a collaboration since the outcome will happen mutually. It is better to trust the gritty process andthereafter savour the success of a collaboration rather than giving little efforts in the beginning and realize that you just wasted your time in the end because of the not-so-good outcome.

Collaboration should be exciting! Not just for the consumers or the audience, but also the owners in a collaboration should feel it too. In this way, the gruesome process of achieving something will become bearable because there is a surge of excitement of what the plans would become once it is executed. For sure, at some point, the owners will try and pretend to fill the shoes of a consumer and ask, “if I am the consumer, will I buy this product?” or “if I am part of the audience, will I appreciate it?”

Lastly, collaboration does not necessarily need to happen in businesses and the like, it could also be as simple as personal collaboration; such as, an art collaboration, group project collaboration, passion project collaboration, and the like. And of course, same thing applies to these given examples and the essence of collaboration should still be observed.
