COMME des GARCONS recently launched its new capsule collection ‘Breaking News’ featuring some collaboration with other prominent names like Anti Social Social Club, Adam Lucas otherwise known as Hanksy, Braindead, Dreamland Syndicate and Cactus Plant Flea Market among others. We’re talking about a 6-piece shirt bundle along with a variety of outerwear.

The CDG release is exclusive in COMME des GARCONS and Dover Street Market locations around the world and we are fortunate enough to be able to see the collection live and up-front here in the Philippines. Despite the positive and negative criticisms that surround the fashion industry here in our country, it’s amazing to see events like these being celebrated.

Being a brand heavy on avant-garde, it’s hard to tell what they will come up with next but if we do know one thing, it’s that all the pieces they create are something that fashion and/or style enthusiasts look forward to. In this collection, it appears that Rei Kawakubo and her label is undertaking a different approach, and that’s what keeps all of us interested – we never really know what she’s going to do next.

Toch Barreiro from H&F Retail Concepts, Inc. invited us to check the release and it was fascinating to see how intricate and diverse the designs of the pieces are. Moreover, it was refreshing seeing everyone in the crowd being creative with how they dress and present themselves. The place was packed and filled with lots of good stuff, and we can’t help but admire how astounding everything was.
